This was a university team game project at the KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) in collaboration with the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. The aim was to apply the waterfall model and other software development concepts to a real software project inside a team of students.
Our game is about the princess Punzel who tries to escape from the Evil Overlord. The player controls this antagonist and must catch the escaping princess by navigating a sleigh with two goblins. There are multiple maps with different themes and difficulties to overcome. The main language of the game is German, but there is a basic translation for other languages (for example English) as well.
My main responsibilities were:
- The I/O system for reading and writing configuration files and game files in general
- The map system: Loading and representing the different maps in a useful and extendable file format
- The mushroom post processing effect
- Project and Team Management
